Be happy - it's a choice

Sunday will mark one month since the birth of our daughter, and it's truley amazing how much can happen in one small month.

When I was pregnant I couldn't make time move fast enough, I was so thrilled and excited to meet my daughter, and have us all together.. FINALLY.. But now.. now, time is moving so fast, in four short weeks Addison has already grown so much, she is bigger and stronger and Austin is too. He is such a good brother, and has ajusted wonderfully with giving up being an only child, and doesn't seem to mind having to share his mommy with his "princess" as he calls her.

Being home with both of my children has really been a dream, and for some reason I cannot find one thing to complain about, not lack of sleep, not Austin's accidents, not anything.. It's all so easy.. and by easy I really mean that it's meant for me. It's been low key and remotly stress free. As stress free as life with a vivacious and loud preschooler can be ;)

this was the day we came home, Addy was still a little yellow :)

I feel like a pro, like I was destined to be a mommy to these two wonderful creatures, and it's all so beautfiul. Some people are artists, and doctors, and lawyers, I thrive in this role. And I feel so lucky to get to do it. To be a mom - a matriarch of my family, to mold their minds and nurture their growth to their full potential. To support them and their choices and personalities, to accept them for who they are, and mostly just show them love. They may never know how much and how deeply I love them, for it grows each day, but they will most certainly know that they are loved, and that I loved being their mommy first.

I never knew my heart was capable of feeling so much love. But it's endless, and unrelenting, and all consuming.. a mothers love. Its so beautiful..

Basically Im just a woman, who grew up to find she was so happy and had such a great life, everything she wanted. two children, and one wonderful husband! And I mean we're still young, what does our future hold?? Im excited to find out!

Things Im loving

Tomorrow will mark the two week anniversary of the birth of our daughter, and in those two weeks, I have felt so much - from the fear of my daughter being sick after birth, to the scare of the NICU visit, and the possible threat of pnemonia and jaundice. To now - over a week into coming home, feeling like this is exactly where we belong, I would not have it any other way.

I love spending each day with my first born, watching him grow, and love his sister, watching him learn how to be a good brother, and how to transition into not being an only child.  I love teaching him, and soaking in this fast passing stage of life, that no doubt I will always miss years to come.

I love nursing my daughter into the wee hours of the night, falling more deeply in love with her with each passing moment.

I love cuddleing with my husband, our children between us, almost as though you could actaully feel and see the love pusling from our hold.

Addison is doing great, all her blood work has come back great, she is gaining weight, and nursing wonderfully, she fills her diapers like a champ and eats about every 2-4 hours.. ( all the important things, no doubt)
Soon we will be able to give her, her first bath, her cord is almost off, thank goodness.

Mommy is doing great too, I still wear my band when we go out of the house, but haven't needed any medicine for pain, and recovery is going great, I have even driven since. I have slept on my side AND stomache, something I was long missing just two weeks ago.

We are loving the weather, taking walks and playing in the yard..

I mean, could life get any better? I'm not so sure of it, because I am just so happy, and so blessed!

Welcoming Our New Chapter

Tonight is the eve to the birth of our daughter, I have made sure everything is in place, bags have been packed for weeks, my first born son is sleeping peacfully at Meme's house awaiting the call to come meet his "baby sister" . Family has called and wished me luck, sent their love and are no doubt sleeping peacfully also waiting for that call..

I, however will not sleep much. I want to remember every moment, I want to store every kick and hiccup in my memory bank for years to come. Every night this week, I have snuggled next to my son, whom I love so much, breathing in his skin, and recalling how small he once was.

The excitement of meeting my daughter is overwhelming, the power of a mother's love is so incredible.
I have been anxious all day, trading thoughts between excited, and nervous about surgery, worring about the possible " what could go wrong" scenarios but quickly reeling myself back into a peacful state of contentment and love.

This is the next Chapter in our life. A year ago we wouldnt have believed it, we have grown so much not only since being married, and having a firstborn, but also since growing up and aging slowly into our mid-twenties ( old, right?)

Back in December I told Keith, that 2012 would be a great year, and that we would grow so much, and be so happy. And Although April was a stressful month, with a variety of unexpected things popping up, May is here and as I drove home from school tonight where I left Austin with Meme, I turned off the radio and just thought all the way home.

Thought about how lucky I am, how much I am loved, not only by my husband who works his rump off for his family, who is faithful and smart and the best daddy in the whole world, but also the countless family members who love me with their whole hearts too, who also love my children and share in my happiness and success, and also who have held me when I have needed to cry.

But, tomorrow?
Will be a happy day, one for the books, one for the RECORDs, I will never forget tomorrow, and its so real and tastes so sweet, that as I type, as the hours go by I am slowly nearing the final page-turn to this next chapter, one unfamilar and uncharted.
I am going to be a mommy to two littles. Two littles whose childhood and happiness lie in my hands, it is a job that I want, one that I hold in the highest regard. And let me tell you - It'll be good.

I am looking forward to showing my children unconiditonal love, teaching them kindness, and compassion, accepting who they are and what they want to be and do with their lives.

For forty weeks, well 39 actually I have carried my daughter, nurishing her body, helping her grow, her body totally dependant on mine. I am the only person she has ever known. My heartbeat her background noise.

The truth is, I am in love, in love my husband, the father of my children, in love with my son, the little boy who made me a mommy, and in love with my life, which is so sweet !
